Kayak Fishing Magazine: Question of the Month April 2008

I know that there is lots of info on all the new fishing kayaks out there but I scan the local papers and message boards and see lots of kayaks for sale,  since I don’t have much money this is only way I can afford to buy one, what are some time tested older models that are out there that would work for a first fishing kayak purchase?

You should be able to find many used kayaks that people have only used for a year or two, models that are still in production and being sold new. Some older (over 8 years) models that you should be on the look out for are the Ocean Kayak Scupper (TW and Classic), Wilderness Systems Ride, Cobra Fish N’Dive, Wilderness Systems Pungo and the Ocean Kayak Malibu Tandem, these are some of the hall of fame fishing kayaks that were pretty much what most of the kayak fisherman were using years ago. If you can get any of these models cheap, it would make a good first fishing kayak.
