My name is Brandon Beversdorf. I am a Transport Respiratory Therapist for a children's hospital during the day and an avid kayak fisherman the rest of the time. I'm a native Texan from the panhandle where I grew up fishing the few lakes we have up in that part of the state. I got hooked into canoeing and kayaking the San Marcos River while in college and that began my foray into the sport of kayak fishing.

I live in Austin, TX and thoroughly enjoy being near so many beautiful bodies of water. I am first and foremost a river kayak fisherman. I do enjoy the inland lakes and the Texas coast as well, but my passion is paddling on our beautiful Texas rivers. I paddle rivers specifically because you are targeting fish that live their entire lives in current. Pound-for-pound these fish will fight harder than lake fish.

My personal quest is to kayak-fish every major Texas river. I am only about a third of the way through, and it is a lesson in logistics, travel, and being able to adapt to the different "personalities" that each river contains.

Favorite place to fish using your kayak?
Colorado River and Llano River are my faves, but any narrow, twisted river with little development suits me fine.

Favorite fish?
Spotted Bass, Flathead Catfish, and Guadalupe Bass (state fish)

Fishing accomplishments you are most proud of?
Anytime I compose a plan to target a fish and succeed. And each time I recruit a new member into the kayak fishing community.

What do you do when you're not fishing?
Spend time with my wife and 9 month-old son. And think about fishing.

Why kayak fishing?
It combines two of my favorite hobbies-paddling narrow streams and fishing for their inhabitants. Kayak fishing allows the stealth apporach and puts the angler in some beautiful, peaceful settings. It is a full-sensory experience one does not get from a boat or the bank.
