About Me

I am a primarily freshwater fisherman. I have been kayak fishing for around a year, but have fished big game fish in freshwater for a number of years.  I have caught trophy sized bass, catfish, salmon, and walleye.  I currently enjoy fishing for stripers, walleye, and musky. I have caught large striper and musky from shore and am hoping to take a few from my kayak.

3/11/12 Walleye Fishing Trip

Created On: 03/11/2012 20:33:28
It was a great day. Around 60 degrees and the sky was completely clear. There was a decent amount of wind. I trolled a storm thunderstick jr., a hot n' tot, and a rapala trolls to 15ft. I got a few bites but the fish were a little non-committal. It was a bummer not landing any fish. The water was really cold. The really important thing was i found some spots that will be worth hitting once the spring walleye season starts. Until then I think I will start pursuing musky and striper early in the season.

I think I am going to try and troll some different spots up at lake arthur tomorrow. It is calling for 63 degree weather so hopefully there will be some kind of bite. It is early spring fishing so I am going to go with a couple of smaller baits and will work them a little slower. I may even decide to try some live bait just presented really slowly with enough weight to keep it down. I went up March 2nd and trolled for about 2 and a half hours. The weather was supposed to be in the sixties but never broke 40 degrees. The wind made the water really choppy. Also, to my surprise, the lake was the lowest I have seen it in years. The water wasn't even moving over the spillway (it typically barely moves over in the dry part of the summer). With all that said I only had four small bites and one hook up which resulted in a thrown hook. With the rain and the warmer weather hopefully things will be different.
Tight lines,
Jeremy
