Allen Sansano, Publisher

Rooster Allen Sansano has been kayak fishing since 2003. Since that time, he has promoted the sport through a number of websites. While his latest website is Kayak Fishing Magazine, he currently owns or operates The Milkcrate, NorCal Kayak Anglers, Northwest Kayak Anglers, and Aquahunters. In addition, he was a founder of Canadian Kayak Anglers. All total, these websites touch 600K unique visitors every year. The goal of these websites is to provide information on the sport of kayak fishing to both newbies and seasoned veteran, as well as providing communities that draw together like minded individuals.

Allen has a passion for kayak fishing adventure travel. On one of his many trips to Alaska, Allen caught what is recognized as the largest fish caught off of a kayak in modern times, an estimated 400 pound salmon shark pulled from the icy waters of Prince Williams Sound, Alaska. This 2007 feat tested the bounds of what was thought possible while fishing from a kayak. His pioneering trip to Christmas Island brought kayak fishing to an area that has never laid eyes on plastic fishing kayaks. While the logistics of getting the kayaks and all the gear to a remote Pacific island proved challenging, he was rewarded by consistent catches of giant trevally and bonefish. Recently Allen completed a trip to the remote reaches of Panama. Fishing an area normally only accessed by local subsistence communities, Allen and crew encountered giant cubera snapper and roosterfish. With a 10 year swell event coming through, fishing the edge of the wash rocks was the ultimate challenge. Perhaps his favorite trip is one spent cruising the islands of the Sea of Cortez, a trip marked by the juxtaposition of Baja desert and clear blue tropical water filled with plentiful exotic fish. While not out on these adventures, Allen calls Northern California home. Here he can be found fishing for halibut, salmon, lingcod, and white sea bass.

Allen's favorite quote is one by Edward Abbey. Each and every one of Allen's kayak fishing trips exude this sentiment.

"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own, and no obstacle should be placed in their path; let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned, eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches - that is the right and privilege of any free American."

Allen is sponsored by sponsored by Ocean Kayak, Kokatat Watersports Wear, Humminbird, and Big Hammer Lures.

Allen Bushnell, Chief Editor

BushyCalhalibut Allen Bushnell is a man of many titles – guide, writer, tournament organizer, editor – but he is best described by the moniker of ambassador. A passionate promoter of the sport, Allen can often be found leading kayak angling workshops and seminars at retail locations and sportsman's expos. An early pioneer of kayak fishing in Northern California, Allen was also a member of 2007′s expedition to Prince William Sound, and shares the kayak fishing "largest-fish" record with his 450-pound salmon shark.

When not leading clients on far- flung kayak angling adventures or editing Kayak Fishing Magazine, Allen can be found studying jazz guitar, engaging in the painting of seascapes, or trolling for dinner in the local waters of Santa Cruz. Allen holds a Master's Degree in Educational Administration, which he utilizes in his position at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

"Besides guiding year-round in California and some summers in Alaska, I love to promote the sport of kayak fishing with seminars and workshops at venues that range from our smaller local kayak shops, the larger Bay Area REI stores, and the giant Fred Hall and International Sportsman's Expos. I'm totally stoked on kayak fishing, and love to help newbies share the excitement and catch fish safely. I guess I am a fishing nut, because somehow I work a regular weekly newspaper fishing column into the mix as well as co-hosting the popular 'LET'S GO FISHING!' weekly radio show in Santa Cruz, California."

Allen is proud to be Premier Pro Staff at Ocean Kayaks, a Kokatat Ambassador, and a West Coast Pro for Humminbird Fishfinders.

Andy Jade Cameron, Products and Lifestyle Editor

AndyJadePedalling Andy Jade Cameron has been immersed into the paddle sports world since 2001. He began his career, amidst California's Channel Islands, by teaching school-age children the arts of ocean kayaking and freediving. After returning to his native Oregon, Andy discovered the esoteric pursuit of prone paddleboarding. He soon began dragging behind him a second hand Rooster Tail, and his passion for human-powered fishing was birthed. Andy has since moved on to include kayak and SUP-based angling into his repertoire, and enjoys chasing bass and trout throughout the greater Pacific Northwest.

When he is not on the water, Andy can often be found in his music studio, where he writes and records music for films and video projects. A passionate writer and documentarian, Andy, who co-founded the interview-heavy magazine, The Milkcrate, is also known to spend a great deal of time scribbling into various notebooks. Bicycling, rock climbing, chicken raising, and photography fill the rest of his days.
