Fast and versatile

This is a great yak. Big enough to handle my size (240) and yet light enough to manhandle at 60 lbs. With a few strokes this baby glides across the water almost effortlessly. A little tough to turn around at 15 and a half feet but very stable, dry and roomy. Also a great boat to troll from or drift. Much better since I got a rudder installed, it is not almost hands free in a good breeze or bit of a current. Very pleased with the purchase and outfitted great with a 343c Humminbird, just so I can see the fish I'm not catching.

My 1st fishing Yak

My 1st Kayak for fishing and very happy with purchase. Nothing to compare to but no complaints as of yet. Looks cool, is fast for a SOT, and stable (no swims after 1 season). I don't have a GPS/fish finder for the sonar shield yet, but location is a far reach for my 5'8" size.

Ocean Prowler Trident 11

The wife and I purchased two of these kayaks in February of 2009. We could not see the need for the fishing package and opted for the standard setup. I purchased four flush mount rod holders from Cabelas for about twenty bucks and mounted them myself in less than a half hour. We are pleased with the handling of the boats as they track well and are very stable in rough water. Our only complaint is with the scupper drains. They always tend to let some water into the boat even using scupper stoppers. This will limit use of the boat to warm weather fishing. Perhaps Ocean should consider molding the drains with a course thread in the walls so that a plug with o-ring could be screwed into the drains.

Extremely Happy!!!,

This is an outstanding kayak. It is easy to transport and handle for one person. I am 65 and have absolutely no problem. It handles very well, good speed and no problem with turning.

Prowler Big Game Review

I purchased my BG about 2 years ago. I knew it was not the fastest yak about, though it's no slouch neither considering its weight and width. I wanted stability as most of my fishing is at night out at sea. The stability is simply awesome, I've not even come close to falling out of it. It's very easy to rig, plenty of deck space giving you a lot of options. Fit the center hatch and a rudder and you've got a great fishing yak. If you're intending to paddle miles on most outings this probably isn't the yak for you. The speed is ok, I can paddle a steady 3-4 knots with little effort. Tracking is ok, though the fitment of a rudder improves the tracking and makes the whole paddling experience far better. Plenty of tankwell space back aft with a large front hatch, just loads of space.
The standard seat is ok, though I'd recommend an upgrade for those longer trips on the water. Overall, a great fishing yak.

OK PBG

Ocean Kayak knows they have a winner on their hands with the OK Prowler Big Game. At nearly 13ft (12ft-9in), this monster of a kayak (69lbs), will handle any fishing condition. Gripes about it being slow are understandable, but fishing is all about patience, even when getting to the fishing grounds. (It's not the destination, but the journey.) Stability is a key factor for me, being 6'6", 260lbs, and this yak meets my requirements.

Looking forward to taking it out in the surf sometime. Already rigged for fishing, with an anchor trolley and zig cleat, I'll probably upgrade the seat by next year. Other add-ons include front rod holders, the center hatch and a fishfinder as well. This yak will carry massive loads, (up to 600lbs), so as a fisherman, I have no worries about bringing gear for camping trips. The polyethylene construction is solid and the front hatch features a battery holder that is off the bottom of the boat, keeping it dry. The boat does catch a bit of drift in the wind, but an anchor or stakeout pole generally solves this. And being a heavy kayak, it is recommended that a cart is purchased for transport to and from the water.

Having longer legs, I have no problem dipping my feet off the sides, and it's a refreshing way to fish. Hull slap is moderate, and can be tamed with more weight in the bow hatch. When transporting by car, it is recommended that the boat be put deck-side down, to save yourself $ at the pump. 36" wide crossbar pads are available that do the job nicely. I hope this review is helpful. Tight lines.

Love my Big Game,

A great dry boat not for trolling or covering great distants kind of heavy at 69#. As stable as they get, I sit side ways with my feet in the water. I have never gotten wet.

Prowler 13 my goto kayak

I look into my back yard and see 4 kayaks but I find that the Prowler 13 has become my goto kayak becasue it does it all so well and is light and easy get on top of my Mini van. I have beat the the hell out of it and it justs keeps going. It is a great kayak to launch from the surf and even have done some kayak surfing with it. Got rid of the stock seat it came with and went with a better seat with more padding. All and all I would buy again!
