Solid starter
This is a great starter kayak. Says 500 but you can find new for 350 during end of year sales. Solid hull, lightweight. I've used it in the marshes and the gulf. It gets only 3 stars because 1) definitely better kayaks out there (but not for the price yet) 2) customizing requires drilling and sometimes make shifting, but again this is the kayak to do that on when learning. Stability is solid, seat somewhat comfortable, doesn't have adjustable foot pegs which takes a lot of available space away from an already tight fit. Inside storage is minimal but a smart kayaker shouldn't need much more room unless they are touring from it. To sum up this is in my opinion the best starter kayak and should only need replacing when you want it to. Simple construction and solid body hull leaves less room for cracks and splits
Stand n fish
I enjoy the kayak because I can comfortably fish in many positions and thus stay on the water longer without being aggravated and wanting to stretch my legs. As should be noted this kayak is for the bays and back waters, not open ocean, waves, or anywhere with too strong of a current. Had it for a year now and haven't had any leaks, breaks etc yet. I installed a couple of the add-ons like the skid plate, deck plate (for more standing room) and skeg. I think the skeg and skid plate are most essential to make the kayaks easier to move in the water and to protect it from the oysters below. My only complaint of the kayak is it is pretty expensive, and each accessory is no less than 125$. So between the three plus the Larry chair I got for it, prepare to drop some serious cash. I've owned three kayaks though and while its not the most versatile it certainly functions in its niche very well.
