Big Tuna - Big Fun
5 months with the Big Tuna and each time on the water is a joy. The Tuna is a very stable platform that handles waves and wakes with no issues. The ability to add a 2nd person is plus however I rarely use it and the extra space is great for paddle and fishing gear.
I fish with artificial bait so the Tuna Tank is used for storage with easy access while on the water. I load the Tuna in the back of my 6.5' truck bed and use the provided Jackson Kayak red flag for visibility of the 'wide load'. The Tuna is easily handled by a single person loading and unloading out of a full size pickup bed. I use a homemade wheeled cart to move her around up on the hard. The handles are many and the locations are great.
Dry storage remains dry all day. I store my fishing poles and spare paddle in the huge rear dry bay. The forward dry bay is perfect for storing wallets, phones, and keys.
The seating is great, very comfortable. I have used the removable feature of the seats for nice seating at parks.
The forward pole management and paddle bungee is great. I only wish I did not have to remove it for highway use, but I fear if I don't it will be lost to the wind.
Why a 4 out of 5, simply for the weight and power required to move the Big Tuna. I am always the last paddler in the group of Hobies and Wilderness kayaks. An integrated cup holder would be a welcome addition. An option to make the Tuna Tank dry storage would be very useful for the way I fish and paddle.
