The Gullwing Ergonomic Kayak Paddle By: Chris Parson The Gullwing Paddle developed by Art Carlow addresses a number of sport-specific needs. The company motto is “why dig when you can glide”, and this motto holds true. I tested this paddle a few short months after having a 5 anchor rotator cuff surgery. A friend told me about the benefits of this paddle and I have to say that I was quite impressed. This paddle allows you to utilize the power in your torso without having the traditional over-the-head stroke. I was able to keep my arms in a lower and more comfortable position. I also found that one of the inherent advantages of the design itself was that the paddle lies nicely across the gunwales or prow, in a ready to go position. Less fumbling with your paddle means more focus on your fish! The Gullwing 230 is one member of the Gullwing family, which includes the 215 standard paddle designed for stress-free, recreational kayaking. All models feature the unique forward-angled and asymmetrical blade design which allows the user to glide on the water instead of digging through it. The nylon/fiberglass-reinforced blades can be easily changed. The ergonomic contoured and bowed handles of Gullwing paddles are made of powder-coated aluminum alloy T-832 ALUMINUM, and are also hard-coated to produce a tough abrasive-resistant surface that delivers improved durability and resistance to corrosion.
