I have enjoyed my Pro Angler except for two design flaws. The paddle mount is unstable and I have lost my paddle twice. The last time I did not even go looking for it. The paddle mounts for the other Hobie kayaks are very well designed. I don't know why Hobie let this one slip by because everything else (one more exception) is very well thought out. The other design flaw is the wheel carriage. On the Pro Angler 14 the wheels will scrub the bottom of the boat. You have to install extra pvc washers (approx. 1") to the poles on both sides to keep the wheels from touching the hull. In sand/dirt you will eventually rub holes in the hull. Not good. Other than these two flaws the kayak is the most fun I have had in a boat in either fresh or salt water.

Love my Pro Angler 14 so much that I bought two. These are a stable kayak/boat hybrid. Plenty of storage and great mounting boards to affix fish finders, rod holders, etc. I have fished fresh water lakes, bays and even the ocean for halibut out of this kayak. It's a bit heavy for transport so a pick up truck or a trailer might save your back for transport. I'm 275lb and have no problem doing 15 miles a day on this personal watercraft.

More of a small boat than a kayak. It is very stable and I even tried to tip it in shallow water and had a hard time doing it. The only drawback is the price even though it is well worth it and the weight. I am 63 and can handle the weight so I am sure it is not too much for most people. It was $2199 basic and I dropped $2800 getting it rigged the way I wanted. I love it and am very glad I bought it. The paddle which comes standard needs to be replaced as it is too short for the extra width of the Pro Angler. I was surprised at the speed achieved with the mirage system and easily outpace paddlers. I also rigged up a trolling motor mount on the side for those long trips back. With the optional baitwell you can carry a staggering total of 11 fishing rods with nothing in your way. The seat is dry and comfortable and I have fished nonstop for 8 hours in it and felt fine after climbing out. I use this kayak in both salt and fresh water. I am 240lb and 6' 1". The stability is incrediable. I stand to fly fish with not problems.
