2013 Revolution 11

This kayak is fast, fun, light, and very agile. Hobie has made several improvements over the last few years in regards to the mirage drive, rudder system, seat, and now lighter paddle. I use the Revo 11 mainly on the Chesapeake Bay and adjoining rivers. It handles the chop just fine. Fishing bridge and dock pylons is a breeze with the Revo 11's ease of movement. I fish both light tackle and loaded down. It just depends on whats going on under the water. I have no issues with the rear squating too low when I have the rear cargo space fully loaded. The Revo 11 is light, perfectly light. In the past I have always used my truck to haul my fishing kayak around. I can now use the car to take it out and save $$$ on fuel. It can easily be loaded to a car top by a single person. My old lady uses it from time to time and loads it on top of the car herself. If you weigh a duece and a half, stick with a larger hobie. Under 200 lbs is ideal. The front hatch still has plenty of room for whatever you need. Seat comfort isnt bad. I am usually good for about 5 hours before I start squirming a bit. The pedals adjust nicely to suit my height and my wife's. This is by far, my favorite fishing/weekend adventure kayak.

Don't be afraid to rig your kayak. Baby steps. You have to make that first drill hole. I have been drilling on kayaks for the better part of a decade. I have put everything I need on the Revo 11. The YakAttack GT90 rail is slim and fits the gunwale of the kayak perfectly. I put rails on both sides to accomodate rod holders, fish finder, and a small bait tray. The rail works out well when all that stuff is not needed. I added a ACK anchor trolley as well. I am using duct seal to hold the fish finder's tranducer. Ive used it directly below the seat or in the front hatch, whatever works for you. Works with DS/DSI models as well. I use Hobie's basic scupper cart. Hobie has reinforced the rear scupper holes so you wont tear them up or cause damage to the kayak. I occasionally flip the cart upside down in the rear hatch scupper holes when I am on the water. A milk crate still fits with the cart and has plenty of extra space. You can upgrade the fins and rudder, but it is not a necessity. I used the standard fins and rudder for the first 6 months. They were fine. I got the turbo fins and sailing rudder as a gift. The turbo fins will get you going. The sailing rudder will turn the Revo 11 on a dime. A scary small dime. You may find yourself in the drink if you turn hard while pedaling at speed.

Overall, the Revolution 11 is a great kayak. It is a good choice for fishing or just taking an outdoor adventure. Hobie hit the nail on the head with this one.
