Report: It has been an awesome month for lucky Broome Kayakers, with big numbers of metre plus Queenfish, large schools of longtail Tuna and northern bluefin Tuna, often accompanied by some big Spanish Mackerel up to 30kg! The highlight of my kayak fishing so far was catching a Sailfish (at last) off the kayak. I hooked up only 50m from shore in the shipping channel. I saw a school of Garfish all bunched up and jittery, and threw a large spoon over them. I let it drop about 10m and then gave it one big rip and it almost got wrenched from my grip as the Sail hit and exploded from the water to launch a blistering run of about 200m with only it’s tail in No photos of that one sadly as I couldn’t free up a hand to grab the camera! |
