Report: Lately the fishing has been good like always! The fish are in transition so they will be moving from day to day depending on the weather and the fronts.  With the Low tides I have been working the 1/4 ounce golden brim CAL jig in the pot holes and have been catching nice snook, reds and trout out of the holes.  Getting to where you need to be and getting out and wading the edges of the holes can make for a banner day even in the tough wind conditions we’ve been having. It is the best time of year for sight fishing with not as much algae in the water.  This has made the water crystal clear so you need to down size your leader.  Then you’ll have a blast sight casting redfish, snook and trout! Couple weeks ago I camped out at a spoil island with my brother and a buddy and I was working the new 4 inch one knocker spook and picked up 2 trout in the 6 to 7 lb class.  We were fishing the flats at night and the reds and trout were exploding on finger mullet.  Both of us caught trout from 20 to 28 inches with big 30 inches reds mixed in.  I’ve also been catching a good amount of nice flounder when working the CAL Jigs slowly in the pot holes which is always a nice bonus.  This time of year also I find the big schools of jack Crevalle doing tornadoes on the flats and will aggressively explode on a super spook Jr. moved quickly and it's the hardest pound for pound fighting fish on the flats!  The Snook have been on the flats and at the mouth of their winter time haunts fattening up and blasting finger mullet.  This time of the year I use the CAL green back, the 3 inch bomber and the super spook Jr silver mullet.  This is what the big snook will be eating through the rest of the winter and is a good time of year to catch 30 to 40 inch snook out of the kayak on light tackle!
