Report: This fall we have seen the lack of large pacific ocean swells that can dominate our shorelines and therefore our fishing season is running longer than usual. The big eye scad bait balls remain in the sheltered bays despite one large open ocean swell. We have had some days on the water and have got some fishing in. The tuna are still around both aku and shibi are being caught. The ono bite has really slowed down but there’s been a few mahi around. Today I saw my first whale pod out on the water and the reports have been coming in that the whales are back. I was recently challenged by my hardest guiding mission to date. Luckily, this morning, I had long time friend, guide, and fellow team mate Micah Pignolet with me. Micah is an excellent water man and we have preformed life saving missions together. With out him I would have never made this run. The client was ex navy and an American service man how could I say no. The only thing was Richard was 67 years young and weighed in at a slim 350 pounds. like all good American soldiers, he made me very proud. Richard paddled the whole 6 mile run, and did an awesome job. We saw turtles, and he even caught three needle fish. His efforts reconfirmed the awesomeness and safety of the run we feature. Almost everyone, and I mean it when I say it, can make the 6 mile fishing run we offer. It’s a great way to experience the islands and see the north shore of Oahu. Aloha and a hui ho.
