Chris began paddling a kayak and using it as an angling tool 4 years ago. He has been kayak angling in the Saltwater for 3 years. Chris fishes over 100 days a year and calls the Sedge Islands his home away from home. He has fished tournaments with the East Coast Kayak Fishing Team from New York to Virginia . Just this Fall Osprey Adventures NJ, began guiding full time. "I have always helped out and ran trips quietly as I honed my craft, but now we are ready to unleash Osprey on unsuspecting fish everywhere." says a tongue in cheek Shoplock.

Chris describes his angling career as 'Fishing ADHD'. He fly-fishes in Idaho , bass fishes in Texas as well as long hours logged on New Jersey 's fresh water fisheries. His main area of expertise, however, is the inshore salt water fisheries for Striped Bass, Weakfish, and Bluefish. Bait, Snag and Drop, Trolling, Fly, and Plug are all techniques employed by his clients on any given day.

His philosophy is to use what ever technique will best complete the pieces of the puzzle to build the day's pattern. Kayaks are a tool that both can lead an angler to unreachable places as well as perfecting the presentation of the offering.

"There is no one way to approach any given angling situation and there are many ways to utilize the kayak to augment your chosen approach" says Shoplock. Osprey Adventures guided trips are geared towards education of the angler about the fish, the environment and kayak gear needed. The service's mission statement is to impart an education that will last a lifetime and a show the client how to become a lifelong partner with the environment.

Osprey Adventures NJ is concerned with having fun and learning. There is no old-salt or grumpy northeastern attitude. "We have fun and at the end of a day, if we made a new friend, so much the better." Give Chris a full tide and you will see your presentation and choices improve dramatically.
