GREENVILLE, S.C. , Mar 28, 2013 -

Adventure Technology (AT), known for its innovative and proprietary Full Control grip technology, today announces its 2013 sponsorship lineup, and this year the brand has chosen to support paddlesports events, organizations, and expeditions across the category spectrum. While AT may have been born as a whitewater company in 1993, the brand has since evolved and has created a full range of premium paddles for a variety of watersports disciplines, and it seeks to reflect that commitment in its sponsorship decisions.

"The name Adventure Technology really encapsulates the essence of our brand," said Hastings Blumer, product manager for Adventure Technology. "We recognize that adventure comes in all shapes and sizes, and our goal is to develop the performance-driven technologies that provide the tools to enjoy every minute on the water safely and comfortably. This year, we chose sponsorship opportunities that reflect those values, and we are proud to support each of these events, organizations, and expeditions, all in the name of good adventure."

Adventure Technology Sponsorships for 2013:

American Whitewater. In addition to supporting the organization's efforts to protect our country's rivers and the people who love them, AT is also donating a variety of paddles to American Whitewater fundraisers at Deerfield Fest, Feather Fest, and Gauley Fest.

Active Nature. Team Dagger athlete Jason Beakes and fitness guru Kathy Summers have teamed up to create this organization that specializes in integrated fitness training through kayaking and stand up paddle boarding on the Potomac River and surrounding National Parks. Launching this spring, Active Nature seeks to provide exciting and life-affirming outdoor adventures to challenge participants physically and emotionally. AT is sponsoring this organization with paddles for participant use.

Girls at Play. Founded by Team Dagger athlete Anna Levesque, Girls at Play encourages women of all ages to get out on the water. Through kayaking, yoga and camaraderie, Girls at Play strives to inspire women and enhance their lives by making these sports feel accessible, fun, and adventurous. In addition to supporting the mission of the organization, AT will also donate paddles to be used by participants.

• Rivers of India. Adventure Technology is donating paddles for the participants of this expedition to use on their trip across India. Team Dagger member Christie Eastman, Dagger ambassador Susan Hollingsworth, Monica Gokey, and Emily McGinty will lead an excursion to explore the differences between city and mountain cultures' relationships with rivers by touring four of India's great waterways.

Northwest Passage. This summer, Sébastien Lapierre and Olivier Giasson will attempt the first-ever crossing of the Northwest Passage in a single season in a traditional sea kayak. In addition, these two paddlers are both firefighters, so they are raising money for a Canadian foundation that serves those burned or injured in fires throughout their journey. Not only does AT support and applaud this type of limit-pushing endeavor and thoughtful philanthrophy, but the brand will also donate paddles for both men to use along their way.

World Fishing Network's Kayak Bassin with Chad Hoover, Knot Right Kayak Fishing on NBC Sports, and Kayak Bassin' TV: This sponsorship package offers kayak bass fishing tips, tricks, and secrets from Wilderness Systems Pro Staffer Chad Hoover. For the second year, the brand is working with The Heliconia Press to bring the sport of kayak angling front and center on major national media outlets.

KayakBassFishing.com Challenge. This fishing competition series holds 11 events over the course of the year, pitting kayak anglers from all over the country against one another to earn the most points, thus claiming the top prize. The Challenge, organized by Wilderness Systems Pro Staffer Chad Hoover, kicked off with the KayakBassFishing.com Open in Summerville, SC, on March 14-15. AT continues their support of the growing sport of kayak fishing by donating paddles for the winner's package.

About Adventure Technology:

In 1993, an idea for the first, whitewater-specific, ergonomic paddle was born. That idea grew into Adventure Technology (AT), a paddle maker who doesn't seek to "balance" adventure with technology, but rather seeks to push both concepts to the outer limits. AT now delivers premium whitewater and touring paddles known for excellence in design, craftsmanship and innovation. In 2009, AT joined the rest of the Confluence Watersports family in Greenville, S.C., to continue its legacy of dedicated research and development, all in the name of a good adventure. www.atpaddle.com
