The pedal on the footbrace is reversible to provide the paddler a 7 or 14 degree angle option. Depending on personal preferences of the paddler, some individuals find one angle or the other more comfortable against their foot. Then there’s a choice of three mounting options to fit the needs of the installer (Standard, Thru Hull & Stud Mount). The Thru Hull & Stud Mount options are designed keeping in mind the need for versatility is sizing – each has a nearly 1/4" slot to accept mounting distances slightly above/below the traditional 14-1/2” hole spacing. This would help in replacing existing footbraces while matching up to the existing holes. The standard works much like other footbraces in the category, designed to be screwed directly into the boat (a very popular option for sit-on-tops since the screws have the ability to protrude into the dead space of the boat, and not through the outside hull of the kayak as it would with traditional boats). The system is designed to be maintenance free with built in clearing channels and open space to ensure the footbrace could be easily washed out, even in the case where the worst sand and mud in the world found its way into the cockpit.
